This James Jameson is often said to have been a Justice of The Peace, sometimes as in 1714, other times as 1716 or 1717, in Essex County, Virginia. However this is not likely, as there is no record of this in Essex County.
There is however a record or a James Jameson as a member of the "Quorum" for the year 1714, in neighboring Stafford County, and a record for a James Jameson as "Sheriff" in 1715-1716, in that same Stafford County. It is more likely that these two offices were held by a different James Jameson living in St. Paul's Parrish, Stafford County, at that time. |

"In the Name of God Amen April 19th 1736 I James Jameson being sick and weak but of sound and perfect memory do make constitute and ordain this my last will and Testament in manner following. Imp: I give and bequeath to my son James the land I bo't of Rich'd Coleman lying in King and Queen County Item I leave ten pounds Curr't money to my son David and one Gold ring with a stone to Mrs. Eleanor Roy and will that all the remainder of my Estate of what kind soever be Equally divided amongst my beloved sons Thomas James and David appointing the Rev'd Rob't Rose, Mr Dan'l Gaines, Mungo Roy and my said son James Exor's of this my last will and Testament".
